Not Your Average Grass
While lemongrass may be a member of the common grass family (Poaceae) it is not your average backyard grass. Lemongrass is a wonderfully fragrant tall grass that is both distilled for its essential oil and used fresh or dried as a culinary ingredient in several cultures.
Where Does Lemongrass Come From?
The genus Cymbopogon is comprised of about 180 species, subspecies, and varieties that are native to tropical and semi-tropical regions of Asia, Africa and South and Central America. Aura Cacia Lemongrass Essential Oil is distilled from the species Cymbopogon flexuosus that is native to East India.
You Know We Make a Great Pair
The citrusy, slightly grassy aroma of lemongrass is considered a top note, meaning it’s one of the first aromas that your nose picks out of an essential oil blend. Lemongrass blends well with other citrusy top notes such as sweet orange, lime and tangerine, as well as the more herbaceous or floral middle notes like rosemary, lavender, spearmint or peppermint. For outdoor adventures it combines wonderfully with citronella, rosemary, cinnamon, geranium, lemon eucalyptus and cedarwood.
Quick tips with Lemongrass
· Diffuse first thing in the morning to help you feel alert for the day
· Add 2-3 drops to 1 tsp of jojoba oil and massage into tired muscles
· Add 5 drops to a roll on bottle with your favorite carrier oil to take with you for outdoor adventures
· Blend 3 drops of lemongrass essential oil and 3 drops of lavender essential oil with 1 oz of argan oil for a luminous face serum
· Apply a few drops to the inside of shoes to help freshen
