Our essential oils, skin care oils and more are made from simple and pure botanical ingredients to unlock nature’s ability to improve our well-being. We source our ingredients carefully and sustainably from the best sources around the world, then test every shipment of essential oil we receive to verify its purity and quality. 

Aura Cacia began in 1982 in Weaverville, California, founded by a small group of aromatherapy enthusiasts passionate about sharing the benefits of essential oils. What started with a handful of pure essential oils helped lay the foundation for a then-emerging market. In 1993, we joined the Frontier Co-op family, expanding our reach and deepening our commitment to quality and sustainability. We became the first brand to offer a full line of certified organic essential oils in 1995, and in 2004, we moved operations to Urbana, Iowa to be closer to our co-op’s headquarters. Over the decades, we've broadened our offerings to include skincare oils, bath products, diffusers, and more, always guided by our values of purity, ethical sourcing, and community empowerment. 

In 2016, we launched the Positive Change Project, a grant program that supports nonprofit organizations helping women and girls transform their lives. Focused on initiatives that foster self-sufficiency, healing, and empowerment, the program has granted over $1 million to frontline organizations working to address barriers like domestic violence, housing insecurity, and economic disadvantages.

Now over 40 years in, Aura Cacia remains a trusted name in aromatherapy, rooted in purpose and inspired by possibility.
