Meet Rosemary

Meet the Energizing Rosemary

Rosemary has a distinctive and easily recognizable aroma that is sharp, energizing, and herbaceous, with undertones of evergreen and citrus. Rosemary’s name is fitting given its wild growing conditions — the Latin word “ros” means "dew," and “marinus “means "sea." Its silver-green, needle-like leaves are often sprayed by sea mists blowing in from the Mediterranean. In folklore rosemary is known as the herb of remembrance, friendship and love,  which is why it’s often included in wedding ceremonies. It is a great example of an aroma that can be both relaxing and stimulating at the same time, helping us feel calm and peaceful in body and focused in mind.

Where Does it Come From?

Aura Cacia Rosemary Essential Oil is wild-harvested in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The harvest is controlled by the government and each section can be harvested just once every three years. The distillation season coincides with the blooming of the plants in the spring. The rosemary is distilled fresh or even slightly dried. The distillation units are fueled by the spent rosemary from previous distillations which promotes sustainability.

What is Rosemary Verbenone?
