Young, single mothers face many obstacles to completing their education, finding childcare, and securing good-paying jobs that support their families.

Shine — a nonprofit based in Milpitas, California — empowers these women to build pathways to economic advancement for themselves and their children, helping to break the cycle of generational poverty. Through its Shine Together program, Shine enables disadvantaged mothers to become more stable and self-sufficient, complete school, and learn the skills to nurture their child’s development.

Shine will receive a $10,000 grant from the Aura Cacia Positive Change Project in 2023 to help 180 low-income women build pathways to prosperity for themselves and their children.
