Homemade summertime soothers with essential oils

Spending the summer outdoors can be tough on the body — from bumps and bruises to tiredness from the heat. Inspire cooling, relaxation and rejuvenation with simple homemade summertime soothers made with essential oils.

To cool down, make a simple DIY body mist. Combine 24 drops lavender essential oil with 2 fluid ounces water in a mist bottle. Store in the refrigerator or a cooler until ready to use, then shake bottle and mist exposed skin, avoiding eyes. 

To soothe the skin after a day of sun exposure, make a simple DIY body bar. Melt 4 ounces cocoa butter, stir in 48 drops of ylang ylang III or ylang ylang extra essential oil, pour into a bar mold and allow to cool until solidified. Store in a cooler until ready to use, then warm bar in hands and smooth over skin. 

To cool down and relax, make a simple DIY bandana cooler compress. Twist and tie bandana into a rope, sprinkle with 5 to 7 drops Roman chamomile essential oil, then soak in ice water. To use, drape bandana over neck and shoulders. 

To freshen up and soothe the senses, make a simple DIY roll-on perfume. Combine 2 teaspoons jojoba oil with 10 drops Aura Cacia Rose Absolute Precious Essentials® in a roll-on bottle and roll onto pulse points on wrists, neck and inside elbows.
