Positive Change Project 2017 Donations

The Aura Cacia Positive Change Project was created to help women of courage and determination who are trying to better their lives in the face of seemingly overwhelming difficulties.

In 2017, the Positive Change project provided a total of $230,000 to these six organizations that are helping women move their lives forward:

N Street Village in Washington, D.C. helps homeless and low-income women achieve stability and improve their housing, income, employment, mental health, physical health and addiction recovery.

Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) in New York City helps girls and young women, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking get out of the commercial sex industry.

Lotus House Women’s Shelter in Miami seeks to improve the lives of homeless women, youth and children by providing shelter and multi-faceted, comprehensive supportive services and education.

The Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles is a strong advocate for homeless women, providing permanent supportive housing, education, and a safe and healthy community that fosters dignity, respect, and personal stability.

Thistle Farms in Nashville, TN, helps hundreds of women annually who have survived prostitution, trafficking, and addiction by providing residency, outreach, advocacy services, education and training.

The Catherine McAuley Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, offers basic education, transitional housing and one-on-one tutoring specifically designed for women and their unique needs in overcoming poverty and homelessness.
