Ready-to-Use vs. Pure Essential Oils: What’s the Difference?

Aura Cacia Ready-to-Use essential oils are designed to make topical essential oil use simple. This line of essential oils can be identified by the yellow band across the top of the label that says “Ready to Use.”

These premium essential oils have already been expertly diluted in nourishing jojoba oil, making them ready to apply directly to skin right out of the bottle, with no need for additional carrier oils or dilution. Just those two wonderful ingredients in each bottle.

In this guide, we’re breaking down the differences with our ready-to-use oils and the best ways to use them in your everyday routines.

What Are Ready-to-Use Essential Oils?

Our Ready-to-Use line features some of our most precious and luxurious 100% pure essential oils already diluted in skin-nourishing jojoba oil for convenient topical use.

These include:

  • Frankincense
  • Rose
  • Jasmine
  • Vanilla
  • Roman & German Chamomile
  • Helichrysum
  • Sandalwood
  • Indian Sandalwood
  • Blue Tansy
  • Neroli
  • Myrrh

Because these botanicals are typically more costly due to the amount of plant material required to produce them, pre-diluting them makes them more accessible and budget-friendly while still delivering the aromatic and topical benefits you love. And because they’re already properly diluted, they’re ideal for everyday use, and for anyone newer to essential oils or looking for a more convenient experience.

Best Ways to Use Ready-to-Use Oils

Blend Them Further: These pre-diluted oils are still very effective when diluted into other skin care products. Ready-to-Use oils work beautifully added into:

  • body oils
  • facial oils
  • perfume blends
  • bath oils
  • massage oils

Add Them to Face Serums: Ready-to-Use oils are ideal for blending into facial oils and serums. One of my favorite combinations is Rose and Frankincense added to argan oil for a simple daily facial serum that feels both luxurious and grounding.

Use in Baths: Because they’re already diluted, Ready-to-Use oils are especially convenient for baths, and you can add it straight to the water. German chamomile is a beautiful option for a soothing evening soak, while Neroli can turn an ordinary bath into an elevated spa-like experience.

Create Perfume Roll-Ons: Indian sandalwood, Jasmine, and Vanilla are gorgeous base note additions to DIY perfume blends. Since they’re already diluted, they make creating roll-ons even easier.

Explore Specialty Botanicals: Ready-to-Use oils also make it easy to enjoy some of aromatherapy’s most treasured botanicals in your skincare. Helichrysum, Myrrh and Blue Tansy are especially prized for their rich colors, unique aromas, and longstanding use in beauty applications.

Can You Diffuse Ready-to-Use Oils?

Technically, yes, but we recommend only sparingly. Because these oils contain jojoba oil, using large amounts regularly in ultrasonic diffusers may eventually cause buildup or clogging.

If you do diffuse them:

  • use only a couple drops at a time
  • clean your diffuser regularly
  • reserve them more for occasional use

In general, Ready-to-Use oils shine brightest in topical applications.

When to Choose 100% Pure Essential Oils Instead

Reach for 100% pure essential oils when you’re:

  • Diffusing regularly
  • Making room sprays or linen sprays
  • Formulating cleaning products
  • Scenting candles or wax melts
  • Using oils on fabrics or dryer balls
  • Making larger DIY blends where you want full control over dilution

Which One Is Right for You?

If you love convenience and easy topical use, Ready-to-Use oils are an effortless addition to everyday routines. If you mostly enjoy diffusion or room sprays, 100% pure essential oils may be the better fit. Many essential oil users find they enjoy having both on hand: pure oils for diffusing and home cleaning, and ready-to-use oils for daily skin care and on-the-go use.
