Agape Youth & Family Center

Agape Youth & Family Center supports underserved families in northwest Atlanta, helping children—particularly girls from low-income households—overcome systemic inequities and barriers to educational success. Serving more than 200 students annually, Agape provides year-round academic support, mentorship, enrichment, and wraparound family services that address the full spectrum of challenges faced by economically vulnerable students, fostering both personal growth and long-term opportunity.

Founded in 1997 in response to the urgent needs of the Bolton Road corridor, Agape began as a small after-school program serving 25 students. Over nearly three decades, it has grown into a comprehensive, year-round program offering academic tutoring, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), mentorship, enrichment, and wraparound family services. In 2024, Agape launched its Navigate College and Career Program, extending guidance and resources for up to five years post-graduation and creating an 18-year continuum of support that spans early childhood through young adulthood.

With support from the Aura Cacia Positive Change Project, Agape is expanding its Empowering Girls Through Academic and Enrichment Pathways project. This integrated initiative provides year-round academic, enrichment, and holistic support for 88 girls in grades K–12, along with guidance for 15 young women ages 18–25 through the Navigate program. Students receive individualized tutoring, homework help, literacy and math enrichment, STEAM lessons, physical wellness activities, mentorship, and Social-Emotional Learning programming. Families also benefit from workshops, case management, and resources that support stability and engagement, including financial literacy, ESOL, and mental health education.

This work supports and empowers girls to graduate high school, pursue post-secondary opportunities, and break cycles of generational poverty. Students gain confidence, resilience, and independence while building the skills and self-efficacy needed to succeed

academically, socially, and professionally. Beyond individual achievement, Agape’s programs strengthen families and communities, creating a ripple effect of support, leadership, and opportunity. By providing intensive, long-term, and holistic support, Agape helps girls transform challenges into success, laying the foundation for a lifetime of self-sufficiency, purpose, and positive impact.
