Did you Know?

The origins of eggnog are debatable. Eggnog, or a very similar drink, may have originated in East Anglia, England, or it may be a derivative of posset (a medieval European beverage made with hot milk). Yet another story claims the drink was originally known as "egg-and-grog," a common Colonial term used to describe rum. Eventually the term was shortened to "egg'n'grog," then "eggnog."

Eggnog Sugar Cookies

Here's a spicy fusion of holiday favorites – eggnog and sugar cookies.

Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Simply Organic Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Simply Organic Nutmeg
1/2 cup Organic Valley Salted Butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1  Organic Valley Egg
1 1/2 teaspoons Simply Organic Vanilla Extract
1/4 cup Organic Valley Eggnog
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a small mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, mix butter and sugar until creamy, then add egg, vanilla and eggnog; mix well. When liquid mixture is combined, add the flour mixture and stir until well blended.

Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with cookie cutter. Place 2 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheet. Or roll dough into balls and slightly press onto an un-greased cookie sheet.

Bake approximately 8 to 12 minutes (depending on thickness) or until golden brown on the edges.
