Synonyms: O. multicaulis (L.), Anthemis mixta, Moroccan chamomile
Origin: Native to north west Africa and southern Spain. The oil is mostly distilled in Morocco.
Botanical Description: An attractive tall plant growing up to 130-cm (4 ft ) high, with hairy leaves and tubular yellow flowers, surrounded by white ligulets.
Method of Extraction: Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of flower heads. The oil is pale-yellow to brownish-yellow, olive mobile liquid. Oil obtained from initial cuttings are greenish-yellow. Yield 0.3-1%.
Aroma Profile: Wild Chamomile has a fresh and herbaceous top note. The middle note is sweet, with a rich and balsamic undertone, while the dry out note is sweet, dry, herbaceous and very tenacious.
Major Constituents: á-pinene, santolina alcohol, germacrene D, 1,8-cineole, limonene
