Aromatherapy Leader Finds Inspiration From Past in 25th Year

NORWAY, IOWA (March 5, 2007) — Aura Cacia®, America's leading aromatherapy company, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a scientific instrument upgrade, creative activities for visitors to its Expo West booth and a sneak peak at new products.

The company, founded in 1982, recently added a new state-of-the-art gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) unit to its quality lab. Mindy Seiffert, Aura Cacia's aromatherapy senior brand manager, says expanding Aura Cacia's quality assurance capabilities with the addition of GC/MS is in keeping with the founding mission of the company. "Aura Cacia was created with the idea of providing pure and natural scents, as seen in its original product line of seven natural essential oil blends called True Botanical Essences. GC/MS provides us with a new and powerful tool to ensure purity, allowing us to better identify even sophisticated adulterants in essential oils and other products."

While this practical scientific equipment is lightheartedly referred to as an "anniversary gift," it's sincerely appreciated by the Quality Assurance team. "This capability takes us a step beyond regular gas chromatography testing," says Dr. Denys Charles, the Ph.D. biochemist who heads Aura Cacia's quality testing program. "We are very excited to enhance our expertise in testing essential oils by utilizing the best technology available."

Aura Cacia will celebrate its Silver Anniversary at the Natural Products Expo West on Friday, March 9, 5 pm (booth #3734). Throughout the show, aromatherapy trainers Tim Blakley and Kristen Walker will conduct hands-on mini-workshops demonstrating how to create custom-scented massage creams using essential oils and unscented massage cream. Tim Blakley will also be a featured speaker at Expo West, presenting "Aromatherapy: From the Source to the Shelf" on Thursday, March 8th, at 11:30am, in Room 207C of the Anaheim Convention Center.

Aura Cacia will preview new anniversary-year products at Expo West. Seiffert points out that these new offerings also reflect the early history of the company. "Aura Cacia was an innovator from the beginning," she says, "almost single-handedly creating the aromatherapy category. Our new items follow the pattern Aura Cacia established in the eighties of crafting products that extend the use of pure and natural essential oils in everyday personal care."

Expo West attendees will get an early look at new products that will be introduced over the next few months. Aromatherapy Bubble Baths and a line of Aura Cacia Kids personal care products will be shown at the booth -- products that carry on the company's 25-year tradition of pure, all-natural personal care. The company will also preview a superbly illustrated Aromatherapy Deck that informs and educates consumers on essential oils and how easy it is to use aromatherapy to enhance their lives -- a mission of Aura Cacia's founders, Seiffert points out, that is still being pursued in 2007.
