The scent of rose seems to be making a comeback these days, but for lovers of the botanically authentic essence of roses — captured in rose otto essential oil and rose absolute oil — the real deal has never fallen out of favor.
Smelling pure rose is an unequalled experience of sensual aromatic intoxication. It's completely unlike the harsh and sickeningly sweet odor of synthetic rose fragrances that are often the true source of adverse reactions attributed to roses.
Rose otto is steam distilled from fresh rose petals while rose absolute is extracted from the petals using solvents such as alcohol. Rose otto can carry a green, spicy and herbal-fresh nuance, while rose absolute is deep, dense and rich.
In the practice of aromatherapy, rose oils support the emotional core. A simple sniff seems to allay fear, calm nerves and dissolve away anxiety. It's no wonder that roses are symbols of love.
Calming Rose Petal Milk Bath.
1-2 handfuls of fresh, torn rose petals.
1 cup organic milk or soy milk
1/4 teaspoon rose otto or absolute oil
Mix oils with milk and dissolve into bath. Strew the bath with rose petals. Extra Indulgence: Dissolve in some of Aura Cacia's Lavender Foam Bath to create luxurious skin-softening bubbles.
After your soak, renew your body with this gentle oat-based Skin Nourishing Body Scrub. The exfoliating sugar granules are a gentle way to slough off dead skin, while the jojoba oil nourishes dry skin and leaves a healthy, glowing sheen.
1 cup raw, unrefined sugar granules
1/4 cup jojoba oil
1/4 cup ground plain rolled oats (use a mortar and pestle or pulse in a coffee grinder to create a fine textured flour)
1/4 teaspoon rose otto or absolute oil
Mix ingredients in a bowl. Gently buff over skin in circular motions. Rinse. The sugar and oats will dissolve away, leaving the nourishing jojoba glow behind. |
